Slate
Our slate tiles shade on terracotta tiles may present color and tonal variations which either darken or lift the base tone of each piece. The final hue therefore swings between brownish tones (reminiscent of leather) and darker, more grayish nuances.
Different nuances in a single shade
Such shading and color variation results from a natural and therefore random process which occurs during the firing of each piece in a traditional Arabic oven. Tiles in our slate shade will each present their own unique chromatic aberrations, and it is this peculiarity which makes the pieces so alluring and interesting.
Our Antique finish, moreover, emphasizes the broad spectrum of color and shading by distressing the surfaces and producing imperfections which are reminiscent of antique tiles, accentuating the distinction and uniqueness of this tone. Both tiles can be placed with either side facing up, in a scattered and random manner, further bolstering that antique appearance.
After installation, our slate tiles’ shade can be even further intensified to varying extents by using the right protective products to create a wetlook effect. This shade is characterized by a richness of color and shading variation which together yield an attractive whole that is highly suitable for surfacing projects on a medium or large scale. Our Technical Office will be happy to assist you with any questions you may have about our shades and tiles.
