Innovation in materials: our experience at Materials Matter 2023 in Barcelona

A few days ago, we told you how we prepared our space naturalization initiative for the Materials Matter 2023 Exhibition. This is the trade fair organized by Matter at the Col·legi d’Arquitectes de Catalunya – COAC (Association of Architects of Catalonia), an unmissable event for learning about trends in materials that stand out for their innovation and sustainability.

We took the new todobarro planters there, in which we planted up to 40 different species that were sent to Barcelona. Once there, we had the opportunity to showcase the progress made on the new products and prototypes we are developing at todobarro. In addition to the planters, which took center stage in the run-up to the event and were on display during the event itself, we also brought a line of products inspired by Jorge Herrera’s Celosía 11.

But this was not the only purpose of our attendance. The icing on the cake was the premiere presentation of a project we have developed together with Josep Camps from Arquitecturia. It is a joint project we are looking forward to telling you more about very soon.

In direct contact with innovation

Attending the Matter fair is like entering a parallel universe of infinite possibilities. It is a unique opportunity to connect with the manufacturers of the most innovative and sustainable materials in the current architecture and interior design landscape. All this took place within the framework of a series of presentations in which 27 leading firms in the sector participated, allowing us to hear first-hand accounts from these professionals.

Brands such as BEAL International s.a., Revolución Limo, Hempcrete Spain, FEDE, the SWITCH, and LIGHT tailor were just some of the participants with whom we were able to share impressions. Of course, we took the opportunity to learn about the work of some leading professionals such as: batlleiroig, L35 Architects, deardesign studio | things. soul. spaces., MESURA, and PERIS TORAL ARQUITECTES SOCIEDAD CIVIL PROFESIONAL.

The leading trade fair for architecture and interior design materials

The Matter trade fair is an unmissable event for professionals in the architecture and interior design materials sector. This edition of Materials Matter 2023 saw the participation of 32 companies from different parts of Spain and also from countries such as Italy, Israel, Switzerland, Finland, and Sweden.

The variety of attendees, together with the format and content of the talks, make the event a magnificent opportunity to share news and learn about leading projects in contemporary architecture.

We went there with our planters and some of the products from todobarro. But without a doubt, we came back with much more: an arsenal of ideas and a whole injection of creativity to continue designing and developing our own.
