A natural fired clay wall for a bathroom full of character
Textures, neutral tones, and noble materials such as fired clay, wood, and stone are the keys to this comprehensive renovation that recovers the original essence of this home
Full renovations offer a unique opportunity to make the most of a space. But there is another aspect that is no less important when undertaking a project of this magnitude, and that is the opportunity to restore the essence of a home. Reconnecting with its nature from a functional point of view is undoubtedly a winning strategy.
A perfect example of this is the comprehensive renovation of this home, whose interior design was carried out by the SUCRE studio and executed by the construction company Revirt. The renovation is based on the use of traditional materials such as handmade terracotta tiles. Combined with elements made from fine materials such as stone and wood, it manages to convey that connection with nature in which everything flows.
The choice of our Mondrian set to cover a large wall in the bathroom is one of the successes of this project. They used the antique white color, which brings serenity and a cozy touch. In this way, the bathroom becomes a place where, like any other room in the house, you can feel the warmth of home. Another feature that adds character is that each of the tiles applied to the partition wall is unique, as both our production and our firing system are 100% handmade. The shade varies with slight differences in tone, giving each piece its own uniqueness and authenticity.
Neutral colors and a combination of textures to achieve harmony
As we continue to explore the spaces created by SUCRE studio for this renovation, we find that neutral tones stand out throughout the home. Combined with the textures of the materials, they create a sense of harmony in each room.
Restoring the essence of the home, as mentioned above, was another key aspect of this renovation. One of the main features of the project is the ceilings, which retain their original moldings. As an exception, wood-effect beams were chosen for the living-dining room to bring even more warmth to the space. This is combined with continuous microcement flooring, which adds a more refined touch to the space.
The open spaces and a layout focused on the terrace accentuate the natural light in the home. The most active spaces have also been carefully designed to protect the bedrooms and an office, which is divided by a hidden sliding door, from possible noise.
As explained by SUCRE studio, lighting has been key in the design. This strategy has also been followed in the bathroom, where indirect, warm light is reflected off the handmade clay wall with Mondrian tiles, accentuating their respective irregularities and emphasizing their textures.
This is how they manage to create that warm and welcoming atmosphere that is so appreciated when coming home every day.
