Casa Manuela: organic architecture for Paula Ordovás’ home in Marbella
Designer Juan Bengoa opts for curves as a distinguishing feature for the project and chooses one of todobarro's signature collections
When a designer is faced with a challenge as daunting as “a surprising interior design” it is certain that the process will require, at the very least, a good dose of creativity. The client who sent this message was Paula Ordovás from Madrid for her home in Marbella. The person commissioned with that wow factor was Juan Bengoa and his studio.
The content creator was clear that both she and anyone visiting Casa Manuela should perceive what she describes as the new luxury: sustainability. The interior designer has more than achieved this goal thanks to a commitment to organic materials as the conceptual backbone of this project. This philosophy is present in every room with a movement that flows through the curves. It is precisely this architectural element that makes it different and so special.
This dance of curves present in the different rooms is also found in the todobarro product chosen for Casa Manuela. It is one of our signature collections, Vélez-Acueducto, with a combination of rust red, salmon, and straw tones. They used this set to cover one of the terraces of the house, transferring the curve present in the interior design to the exterior.
The result is a space that breathes art, where textures and organic elements blend with the lifestyle that this home invites. A concept closely linked to the essence of Andalusia, which permeates every room through the choice of materials: lime walls, wood, mortar, and the todobarro exterior flooring itself.
Vélez collection for the outdoors
The Vélez collection is one of the most special of our signature flooring ranges. It was designed by the Malaga-based studio LEBLUME and its shapes are inspired by the artisanal heritage of traditional fired clay from the Axarquía region and the semicircular arch.
Like the interior design of Casa Manuela, this collection explores curved geometry and organic forms. This is how this terrace becomes an extension of the creativity displayed inside.
These tiles used outdoors blend in with the natural surroundings and are also resistant to different weather conditions, provided they are properly cared for. If you would like to know more, we invite you to learn more about protecting and restoring clay tiles in outdoor areas, as in the case of Casa Manuela.
If you liked this project, you can find out more in this video and article dedicated to it by the interior design magazine MANERA Magazine.
