La Cofradía doesn’t just offer a wide variety of high quality local produce, but it also brings its patrons and visitors the chance to get involved in the educational process regarding the elaboration and composition of its products. In collaboration with Berd Estudio, the store has created a unique space that reflects its approach to sustainability, coexistence and knowledge exchange.

A design inspired by La Cofradía’s philosophy
The design of La Cofradía’s project is a physical manifestation of its approach to local produce and its collaboration with local craftsmen. The Berd Estudio has managed to capture the essence of La Cofradía by using local materials and respecting the memory of the existing building.
The stone walls and wood beams have been preserved, to safekeep the authenticity and add a touch of history to the place. Besides, the right lighting highlights the products’ exhibit while showcases the original aesthetics of the place.
A cozy and authentic environment
From the moment one enters La Cofradía, one feels encouraged to explore and discover. The curved and organic access point welcomes visitors, guiding them to a space of neutral and natural textures and colors. todobarro’s fired clay bricks add the artisanal touch, while the oak wood brings warmth and contrast to the market’s atmosphere.
Two big multipuropose tables act as a product exhibit and provide space for social activities, like food tasting events and workshops, where clients can interact with farmers and producers. Besides, an artisanal mural showcases the essence of La Cofradía: a social interaction that revolves around local gastronomy.
Exploring the space
When walking through the interior facade, made of two parallel arcs, visitors discover a more private exhibit area, where a cleaning station is found, and a staircase leads to the second floor. This carefully thought process allows for an efficient and functional distribution of the space, ensuring that each area fills its purpose while keeping the visual harmony.

The highlight of the tour of La Cofradía is its cellar, where a wide variety of wines are showcased. This area holds the soul of the place, a world of stories and varieties that emanate from passionate wine producers.
