Terracotta tiles for a mediterranean renovation in the heart of Paris
The integral renovation of an apartment from the seventies relies on our terracotta tiles to carry the Mediterranean light into the modernity of Paris
Every space has its own personality. And so it proves this project in the French capital. The studio Kuenz Le Gall has worked hand in hand with the owners to transform an old seventies apartment into a modern but welcoming family home. Before us a demonstration of how to integrate natural materials, amongst them our terracotta tiles, for the renovation of a space whose identity had to be constructed from scratch.
On this project we find our favourite combination. On one hand, a strong commitment with the client’s vision from the studio, on the ohter, a strong commitment with the environment and natural resources from the clients. To honor that commitment, the Parisian firm has relied on artisanal, handmade materials and objects, from sustainable sources, as are all of our products. That spirit jumps from the pictures. ¿The result? Design and modernity don’t retract at all from the original and customized finishes of the renovation.
Wood, glass and terracotta: catching the light through the materials
As the studio explains, the project prioritized light and the use of natural materials. The chosen combination (solid wood, tinted glass windows, glazed tile walls…) aimed naturally towards the Mediterranean style. The synergies between design and materials have allowed this project to dote each small space with a simple but strong personality.
Kuenz Le Gall has found the perfect place for our Vélez-Mezquitilla design (in white, flamed straw, rust red and slate shades) in one of the bathrooms. More specifically, on the front walls that holds the main mirror and the sink. This decision fills the space with freshness and dynamism, whilst respecting the general intentions of the project. In the other bathroom, we find, in a more traditional but nonetheless successful tone, our classic Ladrillo rústico 25×12 in a Flamed straw Antique shade.
Our takeaway, amidst the pleasure that it is to work with such collaborators, is that this project does nothing but to corroborate the versatility of the material we work with. And, to add to our point, we now add this small but brilliant exploration of terracotta tiles for a renovation.
