Andalusian Art decoration in Granada: La Bella Hotel
Dichoso Estudio chooses todobarro floors for a decoration with charm and soul, like the city itself where this hotel is located
Interior design is the art of decorating a space, and few places in the world invite art in such a special way as Granada does. This Andalusian city is soul, history, legend, and enchantment, and its genuine character is present in its heritage. But Granada is also built and shown from its roots in the present.
This is the case of La Bella Hotel, a new 32-room boutique hotel located in the heart of Granada, on Plaza Bib Rambla, with wonderful views of the Cathedral. Dichoso Estudio was responsible for designing this project, built by Mulconsa, and they chose todobarro to provide the warmth and naturalness of our terracotta floors. Interior designer Ángeles Asensio sent us this text, which we found very inspiring:
“A spell of folklore and color… sown in the south, a mixture of ruffles with the spirits of joy, where crying becomes singing, and singing its agony, dance and song, laughter and tears, to the sound of castanets, it mixes a concert of clapping hands with the light of candles and this rhythm becomes dance, throughout the Andalusian people. . !”
The adjectives used could not describe the city better. Colorful, cheerful, fresh and warm, rhythmic as well as Mediterranean and fascinating, dazzling and truly beautiful. These were to be the pillars that would underpin the creative concept behind the design of La Bella Hotel, and at todobarro we had the perfect elements to achieve the desired effect.
A fired clay floor to achieve the Andalusian atmosphere
Fired clay has been a big part of Andalusian cultural and decorative identity forever. The La Bella Hotel uses our rust red and antique white Cuadrado 15 in a checkerboard disposition with four tiles sets on each color. The result, as can be appreciated in the pictures, brings us straight back to that Andalusian terracotta floors tradition.
The color game the chromatic palette proposes with its lively and joyful terracotta shades situates us inmediately within its environment. The color combination is everpresent on many other interiorism details.
The design is approached from the usage of artisanal, local materials, like terracotta checkered floors in earthy and white tones, walls painted in pink and greenish shades, and woodwork that brings warmth and confort to the space. The details combine with custom designed furniture and warm and soft lighting that generates an intimate and welcoming atmosphere.
Thus, the guests that are in the hotel enjoying a well deserved rest never leave the grip of Granada’s charm. The result is a modern and cozy hotel that bursts with life and joy, where the intention is for the guest to experience the emotion of being in Granada. And to, of course, feel at home.
