A custom pattern of concentric circles for the patio of the hotel Pulitzer Paris
We laid a tessellation of concentric circles in the hotel’s patio, in collaboration with the Lázaro Rosa-Violán studio
The Hotel Pulitzer Paris is an exquisite hotel located on the prestigious rue du Faubourg Montmartre, nestled between the historic neighborhoods of Opéra and Montmartre. It belongs to the Spanish hotel group Pulitzer Hotels, and under the creative direction of the renowned Lázaro Rosa-Violán, we installed the flooring for the hotel’s petite courtyard: a tessellation of concentric circles made from custom terracotta bricks in three distinct color tones.
This hotel sits in one of the most iconic areas of one of the world’s most iconic cities. Every corner of the building is infused with the most authentic Parisian essence: the eclectic spirit of the Opéra district, the bohemian soul of Montmartre, and the general good taste of the French capital.
The specialty of a custom project
Although we have a design catalog that is, in our (completely unbiased) opinion, exquisite, we also love working on custom projects. When a client has a clear vision, it’s incredibly rewarding to help bring it to life. And in other cases—such as this one—an interior design or architecture studio like Lázaro Rosa-Violán finds a way to incorporate our terracotta pieces into a broader creative vision.
For the Hotel Pulitzer Paris, the flooring consists of our terracotta tiles arranged in a beautifully aesthetic pattern of concentric circles that organically unfold across the square patio. For this floor, we used the Ámbar set, a combination of three warm color tones: 50% in Reddish, 35% in Salmon, and 15% in Straw.
It’s a relatively small courtyard, furnished with iron café-style tables and chairs. The space, known as Le Patio, has become something of a neighborhood icon. Its quiet and intimate atmosphere evokes the Mediterranean patio tradition—it offers privacy without feeling confined. It’s a popular spot for both travelers and locals who come to Le Patio seeking a cool, stylish place to enjoy a cocktail or its menu of Mediterranean-style tapas.
The rustic charm of our Antique finish harmonizes perfectly with the elegance of the design, reinforcing a warm, handcrafted feeling—yet one that remains effortlessly chic and modern.
A dream collaboration with Lázaro Rosa-Violán
It was a true privilege to collaborate with the prestigious Lázaro Rosa-Violán studio. Their projects stand out for their strong identity, theatricality, and a delicate balance between aesthetic forces.
Their work is renowned for creating spaces that prioritize the sensory experience without sacrificing functionality—beautifully exemplified by this patio, where the greenery, spatial layout, lighting, and material choices such as terracotta interact in perfect synergy.
This project is a great example of the kind of challenge we love to take on. The courtyard’s dimensions posed a real difficulty for implementing a zigzagging pattern of alternating concentric circles, but our team was undeterred and achieved an outstanding result. To bring the design to life, we used the following pieces (all custom-made, except for the Cuadrado 10, which is part of our permanent catalog):
- Cuadrado 5
- Cuadrado 10
- Rectángulo 10×5
- Rectángulo 15×10
- Círculo 20
- Círculo 29
- Círculo 35
