We’re working with Let’s Pause again, using natural-toned tiles for their interior showroom
For the second time, we’re collaborating with Let’s Pause, a brand that specializes in upcycling nature.
There are pairs of things that seem made for each other—sometimes unexpected coincidences, and other times, obvious combinations. Our relationship with Let’s Pause is a bit of both. Just like in our case, products by Let’s Pause are the merit of nature just as much as they are of the brand. They specialize in making furniture, decorative objects, rugs, and lamps—all from upcycled natural materials.
We had already worked with Let’s Pause on one of our most beautiful full-scale projects: Cales Fonts. For this traditional Menorcan house, we contributed white tones with our Cuadrado tiles in the Blanco Antiguo shade, while Let’s Pause brought in the light with their lamps and furniture made of wood and natural fibers.
We’ve come together again, this time in their showroom. They used small sections of our Rectángulo 20×10 tiles in Camarina and Salmón tones. The synergy between Let’s Pause’s objects and todobarro’s terracotta tiles is, as the English say, a match made in heaven. Our natural-toned tiles blend perfectly with the brand’s materials, which include oleander, poplar, and walnut wood, reeds, plant-based leather, esparto grass, fique (a natural fiber commonly used in Andean weaving traditions), palm leaves…
The combination of these materials with our clay floors or walls is a choice we always support—it’s practically a guaranteed success, regardless of the object’s function. Let’s Pause products are the perfect complement to Mediterranean-style spaces, as we saw in Cales Fonts and as we can now imagine (and, thanks to the showroom, anyone can) in a Mediterranean patio.
Shared values: the importance of craftsmanship
We share two core values with Let’s Pause: aesthetic excellence and artisan craftsmanship. Just like at todobarro, Let’s Pause products are the result of exquisite artisanal work, carried out by expert hands. Neither of our brands believes in perfection or uniformity—those are traits found only in mass-produced goods.
This is why you won’t find two identical pieces in either of our catalogs. Furthermore, some products require so much time and skill that only highly experienced master artisans can make them—such as some of their hammocks and swings made from plant fiber. This explains the exclusive and limited nature of their pieces.
Differences between upcycling and recycling
What makes the type of recycling Let’s Pause does so special? We can think of upcycling as a special category of recycling, in which recycled products or materials are given a second life—specifically through creativity. Normally, and as in this case, the products that result from an upcycling process go on to have a long and meaningful second life, something not always true of generic recycled items.
In addition to extending the life of the product, upcycling also minimizes—or even eliminates—the amount of waste created in the process. Another key aspect of upcycled products is that their value is higher than that of the original materials or object—another criterion fully met by Let’s Pause. We look forward to seeing their furniture and objects placed atop our terracotta tiles in many future projects.
