From March 19 to 29, the latest edition of Marbella Art Design, the Marbella Design Fair, was held at the Marbella Palace of Fairs, Exhibitions, and Congresses. This annual event brings together firms, companies, designers, and artists from around the world in this city in the province of Málaga to showcase contemporary art and interior design.

We participated in the event with a terracotta floor for the Airzone stand —a company pioneering the development of smart climate control systems—designed by Nina Dubarry’s studio. The interior designer, based in both Marbella and Barcelona, used our rectangular terracotta tiles in white with an Antique texture to cover the entire surface of the stand.

The installation, titled The architecture of climate, explores climate control as a design tool for well-being. The space was divided into two zones: an entrance area, flanked by a small columnata of metal pillars, and a chamber housing the main exhibits, set atop pillars that are also covered by our pieces.

The first part of the space highlights the company’s engineering identity, evoking ideas of precision, cutting-edge design, and technical innovation. In the second part, organic and natural elements come to the fore to create a balanced atmosphere that harmonizes sustainability with the quality of the experience. And the common thread linking one space to the other is our neo-artisanal terracotta pieces.

A visual representation of the intersection between energy efficiency, technical innovation, and user comfort

Airzone is a Spanish company specializing in the development of home climate control systems. These systems allow users to regulate the climate in their homes, zone by zone, with centralized control via an app. Thanks to this optimization, excessive energy consumption is prevented and energy efficiency is increased by up to 80%, reducing costs for users and avoiding the unnecessary emission of millions of metric tons of CO2 into the atmosphere.

This is an innovative product that, by its very nature, is geared toward Europe’s goal of achieving energy independence and carbon neutrality by 2050, as it allows us to manage energy demand with the same precision with which we manage energy generation.

The advantages of such a product speak for themselves, but the challenge of conveying these ideas visually for an event like the Marbella Design Fair is also evident. That’s why it makes perfect sense to us that our handcrafted flooring serves as a bridge between Airzone’s core concept and the aesthetic excellence that characterizes Nina Dubarry’s projects.

todobarro’s neo-artisanal floors are developed through a process that consciously seeks to optimize energy use and minimize the environmental impact of our activity. But our vision shares more than just energy efficiency in production methods with The architecture of climate. Like Airzone, at todobarro we view sustainability as an opportunity, not as an obstacle to be circumvented. And, much like Nina Dubarry’s studio, we view climate well-being as a means of expression brimming with possibilities.

For years, we’ve been optimizing our processes, researching, and innovating within our sector so we can offer our clients the highest-quality product on the market in a way that’s sustainable and beneficial to our social, economic, and environmental context. Participating in collaborations like this reinforces our convictions and reminds us of the viability of viewing sustainability as a path forward.

The exhibition was a success, and the space received the Fair’s 2nd Prize for the Most Eco-Friendly and Sustainable Space.
