We get an international certification for sustainable materials
Our materials got the CAAE certification, one of the most important sustainability stamps within the international market
CAAE, one of the most important national and international certifying entities, has satisfied our demand for certification of sustainable materials. This stamp guarantees the quality of the products it certifies, in addition to attesting to the environmental commitment of the company that holds it.
Having achieved this certification is happy news for todobarro, as CAAE is a leading certification body both inside and outside our borders. The screening process is meticulous, and having their approval is a testament to our values and company philosophy.
When sustainability is more than a publicity stunt
As people become increasingly aware of the reality of the climate crisis we are living through, the public outcry for the corporate world to do its share of the work does nothing but grow.
This is generally a good thing. But, as with so many other social movements, many companies are resorting to imposture, in this case called greenwashing. This is a common practice whereby companies and corporations try to reflect sustainable or environmentally friendly business practices or models from a purely advertising perspective.
Some greenwashing practices have strictly to do with a company’s branding, that is, the image it projects to the public (such as changing the color of its logo). Others have to do with how companies label their products. And this is where, from the consumer’s point of view, it can be difficult to distinguish where the genuinely sustainable products are.
Green claims are virtually ubiquitous, and will become increasingly so. However it takes a lot of work for a company to be actually sustainable. Sustainability has to seep into every aspect of a project. From experience we know that this is not an easy thing to do, but it is certainly the way to go.
An example of a sustainable company (according to CAAE certification)
At todobarro we are clear that sustainability cannot be a facade, but has to be at the core of the business models themselves. As our CEO Pedro Rosa says, sustainability has much more to do with creativity than with investment of resources.
Soon the only viable business model will be the one that takes into consideration not only the well-being of its own company, but also the social and environmental context in which it operates. Thanks to certifications like this one that todobarro has achieved, not only the quality of the materials is guaranteed, but also our commitment to the well-being of the future.
It does not mean that products without this seal are not sustainable, but it is certainly reassuring to know that our customers and partners will not have to incur their own research to tell the difference.
