The Superior Course of Interior Design and Architecture of the EAG visits our showroom once again

Last November, we had the honor of welcoming the students of the Higher Course of Interior Design and Architecture of the Escuela Arte Granada in our house. We already received them in the year 2022, in a visit to the LAB of ceramic R+D+i where they could see up close our production and research processes with ceramic pieces.

During this year’s visit, guided by their coordinator Alberto Fernández and the teaching team, the students explored our private showroom and the R+D+i LAB, where they were able to learn in depth about the creative and technical process behind our pieces.

In the showroom we introduced them to our Antique Collection, recognized for its aged and authentic texture, which brings warmth and character to any space. We achieve this finish thanks to a controlled aging process that we were able to explain to our guests: once the pieces are finished, we put them in a drum filled with special pellets that vibrates and rotates at a specific frequency, killing the sharp edges and smoothing the surface of the bricks and tiles. In addition, this process allows us to discard defective pieces, as even those with imperceptible flaws do not withstand the process.

We were also able to show them our Mediterranean Collection of zellige, developed in collaboration with the Moroccan studio Aït Manos. This line reinterprets handcrafted zellige with contemporary designs that celebrate Mediterranean lifestyles through unique monochromatic and bichromatic patterns.

The transmission of knowledge: a fundamental axis of craftsmanship

In our R&D LAB, students discovered our innovations in bioclimatic and sustainable products, designed to respond to the challenges of climate change. These solutions make it possible to create living spaces that combine aesthetics, functionality and a positive impact on habitability in the face of heat waves, through the use of neo-craft ceramic processes.

The experience was enriching for both the students and our team, as we were able to share the values that drive todobarro: the preservation of artisanal tradition and the commitment to innovation. In addition, interesting synergies arose to develop training and internship programs, strengthening the collaboration between both entities.

In addition, the visit of the Escuela Arte Granada allowed us to satisfy one of the most fundamental needs of an industry like ours: the exhibition of our work and the transmission of knowledge. At todobarro we have been fighting for years for the rescue and preservation of artisan knowledge, which is lost in time if there is no one to pick up the baton.

We thank the teaching staff and students of the Escuela Arte Granada for their enthusiasm. Together we continue to promote the knowledge and use of ceramics as a key element in interior design and sustainable architecture, and seeing our space filled with young eyes full of curiosity certainly bodes well for the future of our sector. We look forward to seeing you back next year.
