Straw

Our straw tiles tone is comprised of a primary base of yellow-straw together with orangey and pinkish hues which appear partially or on the entire surface of the pieces.

Tonal variations occur naturally (and randomly) on the terracotta straw tiles.

These nuances appear as a result of the artisanal production process whereby the clay is fired in traditional ovens which are powered by biofuels. Our straw shade boasts a scattered and varied range of color and tonal variations, which means that the hue of each tile is different, although always within the same tonal range. As a result, some tiles will be brighter and others will be darker; some will feature orangey or pinkish nuances, while others will appear more yellow in color.

Moreover, our Antique finish can also give this tone a worn and silky texture for a distressed appearance, as well as a greater richness of color variation, as the pieces can be installed with either their front side (smoother and uniform) or their reverse side (greater imperfections) facing up.

Shades of tonality according to the tile format.

Although the straw shade presents destonifications in general, this phenomenon is much greater in 3 cm thick formats such as the Ladrillo Rústico or Medio Ladrillo. In these cases, we find a greater richness of color and a more pronounced presence of orange hues. In the rest of the formats, the variation of tones is more controlled and the warm yellow predominates.

The range of color and tonal variation will become even more perceptible with larger surfaces, where the richness of color across the pieces will have greater opportunity to shine. Our straw shade can be intensified even further by following our suggestions for cleaning and protection in order to create a wetlook effect on the terracotta tiles.
